Massage
Massage is a form of medicine dating back thousands of years. It involves the manipulation of muscles and connective tissue to relieve tension and pain and enhance function. Massage also aids in the healing process while promoting a deep sense of relaxation, wellbeing and connection to your body.
A lesser known fact about massage is that it can be used therapeutically to release emotions which have remained in our bodies after a traumatic event or a stressful time. Neuroscientists now reveal that feelings are not localized in the brain but are chemically present within and around the cells in the body. When strong emotions such as anger and sadness are not fully felt or expressed they become ‘embodied’. Massage aids in releasing these embodied emotions.
Over the long term and as we experience more of the inevitable knocks in life we can begin to build up ‘body armour’ a protective response often visible, which over time creates tension, pain and hardness in the body. As it increases without release symptoms such as decreased movement, spasm, fatigue, mal-alignment of the spine and joints, headaches, stress, phobias and recurrent emotional challenges result.
This is a natural by product of life and should be released regularly to maintain health, movement and vitality. Massage is an excellent way to gently begin to release ‘body armour’. This in turn helps you to experience freedom from habitual and repetitive cycles or patterns of stress and pain, with new potential for health, peace and happiness.
Massage is combined with Essential oils which have their own healing properties and it works well with Reiki.
